Feelings in Motion

Feelings in Motion and Dance for Wellness is Agape Life Prevention Center’s signature afterschool program for K–5 students in Georgia. It combines Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) with the healing power of Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT). Designed for children in underserved urban communities, this program gives kids the tools to manage stress, build confidence, and thrive both in school and at home.

Through fun, structured activities like Mirror Me, Emotion Freeze, and Follow the Leader, children learn how to:

  • Strengthen self-awareness and emotional regulation

  • Improve focus and classroom engagement

  • Build positive peer relationships

  • Develop resilience and problem-solving skills

Helping Georgia’s Children Heal, Grow & Thrive

Why It Matters

Nearly 1 in 4 Georgia children face emotional or behavioral challenges such as anxiety, ADHD, or depression. Too many go without timely support, especially after school when nearly 300,000 children are left unsupervised. Feelings in Motion fills this gap by providing a safe, creative space where children receive both academic support and mental health benefits through movement.

Each month, parents and caregivers are invited to Family Engagement events, where they learn PM+ strategies (Problem Management Plus). These practical tools—problem-solving, stress management, and positive reinforcement—help families reinforce SEL skills at home, strengthening resilience and communication across generations.

The Impact

  • Reduces symptoms of anxiety and depression by up to 30%

  • Decreases absenteeism by 20–25%

  • Boosts self-esteem, communication, and school readiness

  • Builds community pride by connecting families, schools, and local organizations
